My unsafe haven

a poem by Teesha Guliana

I transcend down the stairs,
Once again,
Into my safe haven.
It doesn’t feel mine anymore,
It does not feel,
Safe anymore.

I see,
that it’s infiltrated,
Almost crowded by the judgements,
Of people I’ve confided into.

My safe haven,
Ironically,
Doesn’t feel mine anymore.
It doesn’t feel,
Safe anymore.

It is intruded by the cool breeze,
Which once felt,
Warm to me.

I stand here,
All bare,
With wounds opening up,
Slowly.

I run, walk,
Stop and sigh,
Look around,
And find a place to pry.

It all stops,
Like a movie paused.
The wind harsh,
Slaps across.

The sounds around,
Clap out,
All aloud.

They applaud me,
For hiding away.
They grin at me,
For my lack of faith.
