Disposable

a poem by Vikash

An army of tears rolls down
Creating a pool
That melts away the words
From this letter,
Leaving me to fade away into dark
Realm of irrelevance.

She still stands before me
Amongst the riot of the sunset,
Nullifying the sumptuousness
Of the dancing sun
That leisurely, benevolently
Recedes into the night.

She barely contains
Her indifference
As I recite the promises
That we made
To each other.

The flame for her,
That once flourished
Like a raging firestorm,
Begins to canter to an amber…
Dying slowly, painfully.

The light at the end of the tunnel
Morphs into a train, rushing at me,
As my fragmented heart
Crawls dejectedly away
And seeks shelter
In the menace of memories.

I attempt to tranquillise
These emotions that run, crawl
And sweep through my heart
As they callously carve a path
In a convulsive frenzy.

My confusion slowly begins to die
As my ears tune in to her voice.
My mind strains to disinfect
The affection infection
That still loiters in my broken heart-
Distracting my thoughts.

I endeavour to obstruct
My affection towards her
That lingers like the fragrance
Of the flowers
That lies crumpled under my feet.

Trampled away
Into insignificance
By the steady
Hammering of a blistering
Reinforcement of reality,
I surrender…
Disposed.
