Eyes

a poem by Vijayalakshmi Krishnan

Sometimes when I held you close
so close to my chest
so close that you could hear my heart beating,
beating for you to let me live,
live to love, love you for ever,
till such time this world exists,
exists for you and me to live as one,
sometimes when I was inside that velvet hole,
so nicely spread apart,
spread apart by you for me to quench my burning lust,
I thought I had understood you.
Now I know, how big a fool I am.
seeing you as I had seen never before,
seeing that all that you wanted was,
to play, play with my tender heart,
tender feelings, all for the sake of fun,
your eyes tell them all, tell them all.
Your eyes, I wish I had never seen them.
