a poem by Vasundhara

The emptiness of the cavern
squeezing me out of its solitude.
A lone fan whirring above
consoling friend
getting drowned in my agony.
Some distance noise
drum beat of Zulus
macabre dance of sacrifice
reverberating deep inside me.
Waiting for the bell
of gallows.
Hanged.
The great job
else
lifeless freedom.
