Quietude

a poem by Uma Asopa

Quietude-
a pale sun
in morning
tiptoes in light sleep
not to wake up
dreams

Quietude-
wind
that fills in me
a respiration
held
half way through
in wind pipe

Quietude-
a monotonous rain
pours non stop,
leaves
droplets
hanging loose
on leaves

Quietude-
the surface tension
floating,
formless film
on water
keeps emotions
from drowning

Quietude-
still dark
of black night,
comes only
in private
to talk to me

Quietude-
an unanswered
question,
haunts
and leaves
imprints
in my thought

Quietude-
that final word
silences
restless speech
and downs
all conversation.
