Secrets

a poem by Tiffany Morton

A sad little girl
Lonely and lost in this world
No friend insight to guide and hold her hand
No one around
Who truly understands
So much pain and anger held inside
So many lonely tears she cried
Who would have known this girl was so sad
She smiled, she joked, she played, she laughed
But it was all an act
She just wanted to be accepted
Thinking if her secret got out
She’d be so badly rejected
She held inside this secret for years
Every night she’d shed tears
She only wanted to be normal
Why did it have to be me?
Every night she’d ask
She just wanted to take off her mask!
