Amaranthine

a poem by Tesh Nair

Why do you cry?
What have I done?
Why are you so sad?
What have I said?

I miss your smiles,
And your dances
To music of the skies.

I miss seeing you enjoy,
The evening breeze
Over the silent lake.

I miss watching
Your eyes shine,
To twinkling stars.

I cannot bear
To see you suffer so.

Smile again, please
Laugh again, dear.

So what, if I cannot
Be there with you?
So what, if I cannot
Feel you, anymore?

I can still smell your love,
In the roses you leave,
By the place I finally rest.

I can still see you,
From above here,
And pray for the best.
