Tsunami

a poem by Tanya Panicker

Fast and furious
Full of might
Up above
With the clouds it fights
Striving to come
And hit the ground
Demolish and destroy
Everything around

There it is
Just waiting to rise
Piercing through
The dull, grey skies
Tsunami- the worst disaster
Starts coming down
Faster and faster

And all of a sudden
With one big splash
It turns the world
Into a can of trash

And after that
Back it gushes
Through the destroyed world
It rushes
Back it goes
To the ‘now calm’ sea
Leaving it’s mark in history

And now when I gaze
Into the ocean
Calm and quiet
Gleaming in the sun
Acting as if
No harm was done
I think to myself
How cruel it could be
Rising high, this Tsunami
