If wishes were horses

a poem by Talib

I wish to do something, but I don’t know what it is,
I wish to walk this road, but I don’t know where it leads.

I wish to see no hunger, I wish to see no pain,
I wish to see no beggar, begging by the drain.

I wish to see no orphans, weeping day and night,
I wish to see no homeless, deprived of their rights.

I wish that I could fly, beyond the heaven and the sky,
Where I could hear no hue, where I could hear no cry.

I wish to climb this mountain and reach the other side,
Where I can see this earth, as pretty as a bride.

If you think I am a dreamer and my wishes cannot come true,
If you think there is no truth, in this picture that I drew,
Then you might be right and I might be wrong,
But my wishes will actualise, I have this feeling strong.
