Dearest-O-Dear

a poem by Sushil Sundrayal

I was not surprised
When you called me the Dearest-O-Dear.
Also, I’m not shocked
Now when you think me just a cipher.

It doesn’t mean that
Now you are not mine Nearest-O-Near.
Whenever you’ll check my memory,
You will find yourself always there.

How can I ever forget
The day when I didn’t eat even a pear?
Or can you, when you got
The present, ‘the blip’ from your traitor?

As I had already told you
That I was ready everything to bear.
But in that case
I was immensely caught by the strange fear.

Isn’t it all true?
So, one more rhyme I present you without care.
No need to scare,
They must not fear for that, which is fair.
