The First Cry

a poem by Suman Dodril

All you can hear is his eeny-weeny cry,
which no one can stop, even if we try.

It is all the young born can give,
you know, the baby also knows it has to live.

Everyone is happy that the baby is not dumb,
otherwise we would have felt our life so numb.

The mother cries in happiness so sheer,
the young jesus feels so so near.

The physicists have another success story to tell,
but all the baby can do is yell, yell and again yell.

Have we ever wondered in this mother world,
what he wants to say, the newly born child.

You might tell it is just like a blurp or slurp,
but I feel it ‘s the unending cry for help.

You might tell I am a pessimistic dood,
but face it, the world is so rude.

You might tell me to just shut up,
but the baby, it just can’t give up.

It’s for life, the baby has to try,
all we hear is a cry, a cry, a cry.
