Why Dream

a poem by Suhas Chavan

Dreams,
solitary knights riding forth
clad in the blue-black of the shadowy
night.
Forged on the anvil of immortality,
these ancients
reminders of a Raas-Lila,
the cosmic creation
and Buddhahood.
Luminous as the rare comet
they bludgeon the senses
to senselessness
and above all
restless hope,
hope for an
ultra-sanity!
Companions of sly Circumstance
Who is Jekyl,
and who is Hyde?
‘Tis difficult to understand
but why not?
It would be difficult
to grow up without dreaming
about the
joy of living
life.
