My Rain Dance

a poem by Shobha Nayar Pandit

Rain droplets in my cupped palms
Hold many rain dreams.
On rain wet spring afternoons
When diamond sprays hang on gossamer web
Shooting bright rain rays,
When pendulous rain droplets on
Wet, wet leaves glint under a rain washed sun,
When rain spray from rain bathed feathers
Wash my face in cool, cool drops,
My rain dreams take flight and they fly
Over smoother than smooth washed pebbles,
Over velvet petals holding rain pearls,
Over emeralds on greener than green grass,
They fly across the bluer than blue rain sky,
Carried by the rain-cooled breeze…
They fly from my heart to you, my friend.
