Not understanding what to do…

a poem by Shikha Gupta

Hoping that things would improve with time…

I could feel the blood gush through my veins…
Thoughts entangled in puzzles… difficult to comprehend and solve…
Everything around a mystery, and life an unending maze,
Not understanding what to do, I just sat over it,
Hoping that things would improve with time…

Not ready to mull over the thoughts that came to mind
I decided to run very fast, faster than time
Hoping that things would improve with time

Running as fast as I could, but landing nowhere
Problems circling me… eating into the peace of mind
Not understanding what to do, I just sat over it,
Hoping that things would improve with time

The memories haunted me, chased me from far and behind,
As I stood there frozen in time,
Not understanding what to do, I just sat over it,
Hoping that things would improve with time…

Memories chasing me, peace of mind disrupted,
Depression closing in on me
I stood tall, now not ready to sit over it
I faced it, as strong as I could

Difficult at first, a little easier later
Facing the music is now my blood
As I stand to face it,
The puzzles solve, the maze disappears,
Depression now changed to submission,
Not understanding what to do…
Now I don’t sit over it
Hoping that things would improve with time.

As I stand tall amidst all the chaos
It seems to squeeze into it’s own depth
And fade away gradually into darkness
Making the darkness turn bright, as bright as sunlight…
Not understanding what to do,
Now I don’t sit over it
Hoping that things would improve with time…
