Diamonds

a poem by Shefali Nair

To the glittering stone,
That’s found a home,
In every woman’s heart,
Right from the start.

Be it in studs or in strings,
In bracelets, in bangles or those brilliant rings.
It’s got a sparkle that will burn,
And set your heart on fire.
It will make your soul yearn,
And all your senses desire.

For how can one resist,
this glittering feast,
the apple of every woman’s eyes,
the tiara on her crown,
with a flame that never dies,
in history its already gone down.

It will forever remain,
With every dame.
And I hope that the diamond in all its glory,
Will always remain to tell the story.
