Price of Learning

a poem by Schott S

If I had known what lay ahead,
I would have turned,
I would have fled.

But I have faced,
what I must,
Been stripped of pride,
Been stripped of trust.

Still I am better for this lesson,
I know the cost of real depression,

For what is lost,
cannot be regained,
This the price of life,
The price of pain.
