Criminal Beauty

a poem by Sayan Chattaraj

You committed a crime.
With my tender heart.
And still…
And still running away unhurt!
Is love so sophisticated a thing?
Is love so smart?
I’m a broken one.
Breaking in the hand of past.
A shining dagger in your hand,
And a blood-flooded heart in my breast.
I offered it to you,
Not to play with it, not to flirt.
Thanks Ma’am for playing such a game
That crushed me to death
And made me maim…
