Lost Days

a poem by Rajeev Menon

Vacant and dry are my eyes,
But silently my soul does weep.
Try as much to forget,
But memories my heart does keep.

Of those days of gay abandon,
That seem to be lost forever.
Those precious moments of the past,
The bond, that I can never sever.

Those were the lovable days,
When dreams cascaded my eyes.
Cannot those times ever come back,
To hear my heartfelt cries.

Will those carefree days ever return,
Oh Omnipotent Almighty! The Giver.
Can I have a fleeting glance for once,
Before I close my eyes for ever.
