Bangalore Autorickshaw

a poem by Rajdeep Gupta

Stop, stop…
O Rickshaw will you go there?
Where Sir? O! Majestic, it’s far.
I’ll go if you pay me double
The roads are bad with too many hurdle

Ok, but be fast guru…
Chill down! and listen Radio City sir,
O you a Tamil? Me too, O how happy I am,
This auto is proud to have your touch.

Half an hour, he baked me with his thoughts;
While the drive made my stomach upside down.
The auto entered narrow lanes and welcomed every potholes;
This is a short-cut sir! You’ll be there in no time.

Shivaji Nagar, Wilson Gardens, Richmond Town and KR Market…
He had made a whole trip to Bangalore by then.
As we made this trip, I saw Rajnikanth smiling from the top.

We reached Majestic, I paid him his fare;
Thanked him for the trip
Smilingly he said, “Sir kuch bakshish”…
I put my hands in my pocket and gave him five rupees
He bade me goodbye leaving me stranded in the field.

This journey I’ll remember, never should I forget;
O! you Autorickshawalas, I’ll never forgive.
