Death

a poem by Panicker P.K.N.

Death, to most, thou art devil,
uglier than sin and evil,
thou the deathless one that decreed,
that all life shall die, one day.

Death, to most, thou art the villain,
the conquerer who spares none,
ruthless enforcer of law,
with no discrimination nor concession.

Yet, at the fag end of this life,
in my hours of weariness,
of sensations sweet, pleasures forgotten,
thou wanderer, to thee my spirits turn.

At the fag end of this life, quietly,
watching the sun and the moon,
the rage of colours and the humming bees,
Death, to thee my spirits turn.
