Little ones at play

a poem by Padmini

It was that day, that unforgotten day, of Christmas!
It was that day, that day of Christmas!
When I looked out of my window,
Through my curtains of my room.

Lo and behold! What did I see.
I saw little children dressed up with glee.
With tresses and gown they were walking in the town.
With fireworks and candle, more than they can handle.

What a day was that Christmas night.
I saw myself in every colour in sight.
With blue, purple, red, yellow so bright.
I was going to know into every house tonight.

Every children saw in wonder and delight.
Oh! Children dear, what a wonderful night.
With lights and lanterns hanging out bright.
I gave a gift to every child at sight.

Today, when I remember that great night.
I remember it with great delight.
That beautiful cheer a wonder dear.
That uncherishable memory ever with me here.
