Words

a poem by Natarajan K

Words are physicians of a mind with disease
When spoken acts as humans’ physician in grief
Words being souls ambassador will go
Abroad upon her errands to and fro

So long they remain a different sense will bear
And each may be a human’s own interpreter
See how words from you in a crowd
And reveal only to her when you are in love

When sorrowful become sorrow, with anger they move
Testing words being merry, when solemn become grave
Boys flying kites haul their white-winged birds
You can’t do the same when you are flying words

When unexpressed words sometimes fall back dead
God himself can’t kill them when they are said
Seasoned words calm the troubled breast
Apt words suage, tumors of a troubled mind

No choice of words for one who clearly sees truth
Words become poetic in one’s hands of higher thoughts
Words are the only thing that last forever
These words come when every human’s lips utter
