Smiling our way through

a poem by Mukul Lukhey

We smiled our way through,
with faces beaming radiant smiles,
embarking an island journey,
having fella laughing loud,
and girls echoing lovely tunes,
in a jaunt of mixed emotions,
an action packed excursion,
experiencing a chill of life,
a journey to Karvar,
never to forget.

We smiled our way through,
reaching Karvar,
fighting all odds of life,
and problems galore,
destiny cursing our moods,
we caressed ourselves calm,
keeping cool, the way we would,
all joy seemed to be far,
and with thoughts perplexed,
with our luck saying it all,
we echoed in sync,
this trip is jinxed.

But the place had it all,
a splendid beach,
kissed with peace,
a touch of serenity,
beaches for romance,
and we resting on the beach blanket,
amidst the turquoise waters,
gently meeting soft sands,
a breath taking beauty,
undoubtedly it was,
An island of every pleasure.

Journey surely forms a memory,
It’s a jaunt of unnerving events,
with anger unveiling itself,
and rage visibly high,
we faced all of it together,
standing to our strengths,
keeping firm in the odds,
and smiling our way through.
Bringing an end to a journey,
A journey of sweet little goods,
keeping afresh in the memory lane.
