I Miss You

a poem by Mithun Shankar

A lonely figure in the draping twilight,
shimmering in the ever fading light,
disappeared into the depths of the night
motionless..I watched this haunted sight.

She had turned around… to flash a smile
paused… and waved a sweet goodbye
but the lingering angelic fragrance…
seemed unwary of the owners absence.

I stood there all alone, forlorn and stranded
bereft, cadaverous… all joy and serenity strangled.
Her absence meant agony and lone… as I felt…
like the lonely crescent… in the perpetual sky.

Desolate… distraught, back I started to trudge
her nonbeing impeding, but there was hope to pledge
a hope, of having her alliance, her friendship with dawn.
But come dusk, I had to witness the haunting sight again.
