Daddy’s Home

a poem by Darnell McDaniel

Daddy’s home baby please don’t cry,
Mom’s the reason I said goodbye.
She is the reason I made her cry.

Daddy’s home baby please don’t cry mommy
let’s me kiss other women goodnight.
Daddy does this when he is unhappy.

Daddy’s home baby please don’t cry,
that boy on that picture is not my child.
That’s me as an young boy.

Baby please don’t cry,
Mommy cried all her tears that she had inside.
She is telling me goodbye.

Baby girl please don’t cry,
Mommy’s tired of other women kissing and calling me.

Baby girl please don’t cry,
Mommy said that boy on that picture is not me. It’s mine.

Baby girl please don’t cry
Daddy has been a very bad man
and it is time for me to say
Goodbye.
