Those indeed were the days
spent in
infectious laughter,
petty squabbles,
angry spats,
uncomfortable silences,
happy truces
and healthy camaraderie.

We weathered the sunshine
and sailed through
the inclement times,
charged with a positive air
of nonchalance,
with utter contempt
for all things sordid and unreal.

Why then have we descended
into this quagmire
of melancholia
and dissipated gloom!
Where has all the laughter gone?
Say,
when will it return?
