On a day like this one, on a month as this one
A beautiful princess cherished by all, passed away.
Her demise caused fury and sorrow among the mass.
Her name was Diana and she was the Princess of Wales.
Though she was deprived of her royal status,
She was and remained the Princess of People’s Hearts.
Her beauty was ethereal and evoked poetry for
Its innate innocence, its child-like charm.
She was what one would call a fairy-tale princess.
Her conduct was impeccable and appealing,
Never patronizing or pretentious but always caring.
She loved her country and the world as a whole loved her.
The loss was not alone for England, her land of birth.
But for all those people around the world who adopted her,
Adored her, accepted her for what she is and
Never condemned her for what she could not become.
Her youth was never lost in her lifetime for it
Was greener than the hills of England.
Oh daughter of England, you may be gone from this world
But you will remain in the memory of those who loved you.
They will bear the torch of your kindness and will narrate
A beautiful story of an even more beautiful princess
Who had dared to walk on this earth strewn with thorns
And yet blossomed in the hearts of the people like a rose.
Four years have passed since you left us for the Kingdom of God.
And more years will pass, but you will remain a legend,
A saga of love and compassion on the throne of our hearts.
