seven and twenty years ago
you were
and now are
a parent’s delight!
Between then and now
you have achieved far beyond
our capacity to dream for you!

We gave you `roots’ that go deep,
firmly ensconced in our love,
we gave you `wings’ to fly away
to seek your fortuneas also to return.

Today,
you stand on the threshold
of life’s orchestrated symphony
taking your marital vows
with God as your witness.
Reflect
on the words my son
for they are not to be taken
lightly.

Go forth my son
into your newly wedded life
But remember,
that the oath
you took with your bride…
‘to love, honour, cherish and
obey, till death do us part …’
applies to us your parents
