A Missing Friend

a poem by Sudarshan Madhav Karhale

From an early sunrise
to the late sunset,
when I recall your memories,
my eyes are soaked wet.

Every moment I live,
I grieve in your absence,
who always saw joy
just in your presence.

A friend so dear to me,
the most kind of heart–
why did you choose
forever to be apart?

Rose was your favorite;
I might be a thorn,
but remember one thing–
they are together born.
