Dressed in a dark blue navy uniform
With golden buttons, she flew up
The escalators, half way up she lost
Her shiny helmet and her long blond hair
Flew in the subways draught,
Like the flying mane of a galloping horse.
I picked up the helmet gave it to her
And she pierced me with her pink eyes,
I felt dizzy and had a nose bled,
Fell onto the escalator going down
Where I lie prone on a dirty terminal
Trod on by commuters going home from work.
Men in, grey overalls. came and
Threw me into a large rubbish bin,
When I awoke in the morning,
Still in the bin, I had cigarette butts up my nostrils
And a half eaten burger in my mouth,
But in my clenched fist a golden button.
