Few pieces of papers

a poem by Mahendra

Orphaned, unattended and bare
There lies few pieces of Paper
Besides a dust-bin and side by a drain
Lies few pieces of Paper with no claim!

Came the way a couple of Piglets
No sniffing, no batting of eyelids
     Choose their own heaven
In the smelling and swelling drain

No look at those pieces of paper
No glance at those colourful fare

     Came a roaming dog squad
     Looking at the spilling Dust-bin
     Suddenly jumped and rushed
     Making brawl and barking din

No hissing, No pissing at those pieces of Paper
Only fighting for leftovers and thrown out dishes

     With half slept eyes
     Came a group of donkeys
Went straight to near by wall
started to swallow the posters of new film

They thought those small pieces of pulp
Too small a bits to their hungry mouth to gulp

Walking majestically, with charm and calm
Went across a battery of buffaloes
Not bothering at Pigs, Dogs and donkeys scream
Not bothering to see those colourful green willows!

Talking, joking, walking came two men in perfect fellowship
Sharing the warmth and loveliness of pouring friendship
Astonished and lost themselves with dumb found faces
At a very first glance of those coloured paper pieces!

On their faces splashed a smile
     And faded in a while
With lightning speed they ran atone
To grab all those pieces of Papers alone

“I saw first yaar – this is mine” said the first one
“No, I saw first, all this is mine” shouted the other one
The friendship evaporated into thin air
The sour fight erupted with a roar

Louder than growling sounds of Pigs
Biting each other shaming that fighting dogs
     Eager than those donkey’s graze
Setting all-round scold and scorns ablaze

The fight is erupted with a roar
The friendship evaporated into thin air
All for those coloured bills
Their sight brought such a thrills

     Because they spell “Currency Notes”
Every thing in life they vetoes!

There lies few pieces of paper
     Called “Currency notes”
Laughing at those fighting peer
     amusing at dying notes…
