Furry Friend

a poem by Ann Jacob

When I look into your eyes
All I see is love
The way you look at me with those big brown eyes
As if nothing else matters in this world
How can my heart hold so much love?
The love that I have for you
It overwhelms me
Takes over my body, mind and soul
When I can’t take it anymore
I hold you in my arms
With your little furry ears flopped to the sides
Your little nose smelling my very essence
Licking my hands to tell me its everything is going to be alright
And then I know
I have found the greatest thing in this world
That will love me
No matter who I am
