We are approaching Dhirubhai’s first anniversary
His achievements are such that any tribute cannot be cursory
We need to approach his lateral thinking methods right from Nursery
With those methods, he was more than a match for any adversary.
It is only because of them that he became legendary.
Applied everywhere, it can alleviate India and perhaps the world from its misery
I for one am willing to be his emissary.

Since Dhirubhai was the greatest businessman of our time
His deeds and life deserve to be put in poetry and rhyme.

Looking at him, we may be fascinated and over obsessed by “Rags to Riches”
Lateral thinking is his real legacy, missing the wood for the trees, it really pinches.
His methods should be studied down to if not centimeters, at least inches.
We must ensure that to maximum number of people his legacy reaches.

Through methods which were totally unconventional,
Dhirubhai always achieved results that were sensational.

The world over, Lateral thinking strategies may be taught by Edward de Bono,
Dhirubhai took complex, gutsy risks well; they were not like a game of Casino*

“Art creates, Science discovers”; for Edward de Bono, LT was only a Science,
It’s real artist was our Dhirubhai who created the super successful Reliance.

One of the reasons why India suffers from so much Regression,
Is because we have not learnt Dhirubhai’s thinking methods of geometrical progression.

Educationists only talk about using the Brain’s right hemisphere.
Dhirubhai’ LT methods are exactly that, they can enable us to rise in every sphere.

If we can be fascinated with Amitabh Bachchan in “Kaun Bangega Crorepati”
We should really be obsessed by Dhirubhai’s legacy – “Kaise bane Arbopati”

With methods and strategies which were largely lateral,
He became financially so strong that he may have managed without any collateral.

We can apply those methods to solve problems with a neighbor *
in a forum largely bilateral (*Pakistan)

Dhirubhai was a great visionary, let us use his insight.
Poor nations like India and Pakistan just cannot afford to continuously fight.

Some way has to be thought of to permanently get around Kashmir
Ramifications of fighting continuously can be known from the Russian President, Vladimir.

In fact, whether it is any Indian or Pakistani,
All stand to benefit from the LT methods of the late Dhirubhai Ambani.

If together we see brother uniting movies like “Amar Akbar Anthony”
In cricket and other spheres a united confederation* will be as successful
as Dhirubhai was in making money.

Considering detractors of success and the human tendency to focus on the negative
Being one of Dhiubhai’s most ardent fans, I consider dealing with them first to be my prerogative.

Who can forget the smart, handsome, savvy ,debonair Mr Wadia
Perhaps a stint in the film Industry would have at least ensured
the fame of gorgeous emeritus; Dimple Kapadia.

One can also recall a certain Mr Gurumurthy
He should know one can judge properly only with the integrated intelligence of J. Krishnamurthy.

A certain “Mr Clean” ex Prime Minster minister responsible for Mandal,
Tried to implicate Dhirubhai in a series of moves almost indicative of a Scandal.

When one contemplates the “Dhirubhai obsession” of another Mr Goenka
Such strident criticism is only apt for the likes of Lord Ram’s adversary in Lanka.

In fact it is our bureaucratic systems and infrastructure that are the real Lankesh.
Considering what he is doing in Reliance Infocom, this fact is realized by his son, Mukesh.

Who can forget Dhirubhai’s business acumen
It was as good as Pakistani cricket Icon Imran Khan was in wooing women.

His enemies he used to continuously flummox, Dhirubhai was so adept at thinking out of the box,

He came into the limelight with the first public issue of 1977.
Never looking back, he blasted all obstacles out of the way ala corporate 007.

Continuing with routine, we tend to be meek,
we have to break new grounds and continuously seek…

Dhirubhai’s success was no freak,
to go beyond the obvious, he really had the cheek.

Like him if we go beyond logic, we can achieve results that seem like magic
If we stick to incremental thinking, the results can be quite tragic.

His most important attribute was his earthly common sense.
As a result of which he could approach problems with methods which were no nonsense.

We also have to get back to the basics in other fields; ponder over things fundamental.
Unlike in serials, movies and cricket, in real life we cannot afford to get over sentimental.

There are some doubting thomases who thought he had extra influence.
Without absolutely any wrongdoing, how many people have gained significant affluence?

Anybody who achieves mega success becomes a handsome target.
We can only hope that Dhirubhai’s real legacy we never forget.

Every person has to think according to his situation and circumstances.
Considering the kind of systems we have, he had no option but to take chances.

One should be circumspect and discerning in passing opinions
On one of the all time greatest Indians.

Considering the general view, on politicians there cannot be much dependence,
We must follow lateral thinking to achieve what we should have since Independence.

Using LT in politics, we could have achieved so much in fifty years instead of having unresolved fears.
Considering the progress of Asian Tigers, it can reduce anybody to tears.

What really enabled Dhirubhai to function was his rare appearance at any Business function.
The Govt should think twice before giving sporadic holidays after leaders any sanction.*

(Dhirubhai rarely attended Industry functions. His 100%focus was on Reliance)

Politicians among others talked only about helping the poor
Dhirubhai implemented more than he preached, he was actually the doer.

Considering that for a long time he paid zero tax,
It must be admitted that in no manner, his management was lax.

Since he is no more; it must seem strange not to prefix the word late.
He has to remain in our consciousness to take charge and not rely on the vagaries of fate.

It is only because of his pioneering efforts in establishing India’s equity cult.
Scams apart, there we have achieved a handsome result.

The country has often fallen to many a quagmire.
His LT strategies have to be followed, we can’t only admire.

He became such an outstanding Industrialist.
He was admired by all and sundry- Businessman, professional, housewife and Journalist.

Remembering “Sholay” and the special bond between Jai and Veeru
Considering I am one of his biggest fans, one can sense a special union between Dhiru and Hiru.

Remembering “Yeh dosti hum nahin Todenge…”
“Dhirubhai, aap ke jaisi hasti hum kabhi nahin bhunlenge…”

You are one person I was really desperate to meet.
I don’t know how I would have paid obeisance, it would not be enough to just touch your feet.

You have to keep thinking of new lateral strategies, My dear Mukesh
So that Dhirubhai’s memory in the Indian psyche is forever Fresh.

You too should do something about it, My dear Anil.
Considering their success, only restricted to business, they amount to nil.

In all fields, we must carry forward the legacy of your father,
There cannot be two opinions on this, no ‘or’ or ‘rather’

“Generating” a thousand Dhirubhai was his cherished dream,
For that, his LT should be all pervasive, they should not be restricted to Business or the cream.

In the corporate world, Dhirubhai’s legacy maybe perpetuated by his sons.
In other spheres we must start using lateral thinking at once.

Ambience does not matter; whether it is other spheres or Corporate
Dhirubhai’s LT methods can make our problems evaporate,

Using them it will be so easy to operate; it is high time they proliferate.

Today, he may not be in our midst, Dhirubhai has sadly passed away,
Issues not personalities are important; his LT legacy must hold sway.

Remembering one of the greatest Indians, we must resolve,
Only using his lateral thinking methods, all of our problems we can solve

Dhirubhai is somebody one cannot but salute, as we pay him a rich tribute.
Using his LT methods, we must be resolute, in all spheres everybody must contribute.

We cannot but follow his methods, “Hame nahi hai hatna, naahi palatna”
Like many people, I have no doubt that he deserved the Bharat Ratna.

Despite the exposure, not being much of a businessman, on Dhirubhai I am not a patch.
Even among businessmen, Dhirubhai’s caliber is difficult to match.

I only wish I could have been even 10% as good at business as you, dear Dhirubhai,
Not being good at Business, I can only sing your praises, I am just a poor poet Hirubhai.

Hoping that lateral / unconventional thinking shall be an irreversible trend,
I shall bring my poetry to an end.
