Super Cyclone 1999

a poem by Lakshminarayana K

October is the cruelest month
Claimed adversity to human strength;
The Super Cyclone and the flood
The tidal waves in spirited blood
Cutting all a swathe of destruction
Flattened our fate to devastation,
The building rain in winding wrath
Colossal distress paved marooned path;
Andhra and Orissa, the fishing twins
Of Kalinga coast met stranded kins,
Cadavers found in the bushes of grief
Some clamouring for food and relief.
Malicious deeds of the Super Monster
Affected this nation quite a stir.
