The Lost Love

a poem by Atul James Singh

Once upon a time
I fell in love with a girl;
Her brows were dark, and lips were red,
Her hairs were all curl and black.

Gentle was she and innocent was I
Her heart I could read within her eyes;
The world seemed to me bright and gay,
How beautiful appeared the sunset at the bay.

Mornings were cool, evenings were warm
She taught me that even words could harm;
This beast of mine, transformed to a hart,
Love and compassion were the awaken feelings of my heart.

One day, this angel left me all alone
And all I could do was shed tears and moan;
She saw me smiling from heavens above,
Alas! Her eyes were now out of love!
