Once while

a poem by Meena Nanda

Once while studying,
I was reading Karl Marx
Lately midst,
wars for peace
fights for rights
pensively my neck upward
interrupted by outside moonlight,
silvery cool yet bright.
I stole one ray
for shapes and shadows in a way.
My tender heart got blind,
for that moment lost
link with mind.
Das Capita rested on my heart
Me lost in the ultimate free
world of Marx.
