I woke up one morning,
To find everyone else asleep,
Switched the radio on; yawning,
And opened the window for a peep.
The town awoke, in slow motion,
Trying to search its way,
As if it had had a drowsy potion,
The effect of which was fizzling away.
Whistling my way to open the door,
I found a river of spilt milk on the floor,
A grey cat looked up to see what’s in store,
A good look at me and he thought of asking for more.
Soon shone the first rays of golden sunshine,
Eloquently expressing that it was time,
The birds were flying to unknown grounds,
And amidst the silence there were waves of sounds.
But I went by the bedside and pulled the sheet,
It was a lazy morning and I deserved a treat,
I lay asleep for a little more while,
The world was happy and I was fine.
