Eyes twinkling like the stars above
As the night draped her in black
Rise, she did like the full moon
Above the grey clouds’ back
Beaming with innocence childlike
She blossomed on the stage
Seeming to stretch beyond was her dream
Unconfined by any cage
Shy she was, but never did she retreat
As her subjects looked on, spellbound
Nigh was the hour of glory:
As the world lay still – Not a single sound
Grand, however was the break of dawn;
As down her cheeks rolled drops of dew
And there she stood – India’s jewel
Her glittering tiara in full view…
