Journey

a poem by Devarsh Shinde

I have gunpowder in my chest,
Instead of heart now.
I have chaos in my veins,
Instead of blood now.
I have flames in my eyes,
Instead of tears now.

I take a sip of eternity
Under the broken sun
My soul’s a river of emotion
Drowning myself within
The snow from the hemlock tree
Sweaters my heart

I sail on paper boats,
The ocean of words
Absorbing the most terrible things
From the one’s I love.
As I dream to the moon,
The stardust blinds my eyes.
As I turn the pages to find myself,
We are just souls made of flames,
We are just stars having human names.
