The Parting

a poem by Sashikala

Two silhouettes faced each other
No words came forth
Only the eyes reflected feelings
That were housed there
Their carefree life
Was slowly dissolving
And it mingled with the tears
That could not be shed
The darkness increased
And then the words fell
They were splattered all over
No way to be picked up
But pricked into the flesh
Like a million needles
Where did comfort flee
And companionship wither
On a battle of views
And cool friendship.
