Moonrise and Birdsong

a poem by Sanjukta Bhattacharjee

The moon floods silver,
A jackdaw cries,
Hand holds hand,
Eyes meets eyes.

The valentine evening has fallen,
Sunlight dissolves cream,
The honey of the western sky,
Design a dreary dream.
Hand in hand
We walk through the dark,
That softy creeps through Nicco park.

In different to the chill and shower,
Two loving hearts;
A lovely hour.
None of us talks, laughs or sighs,
But reads in each other eyes.
Feeling that word never show,
Of joy, love,pain? I do not know,
We look around at foggy stars,
Flashy couples in snazzy cars.
Colourful crowds in fast food shop
At wealth, wastage, hunger, corpse.

Our heart show sick
The wild wind chills,
His hand in mine still colder feels;
Our foot steps thunder in the ground,
Smoky, hazy, raindrops bliss,
Slightest whisper,
Softest kiss.
The moon floods silver,
A jackdaw cries,
Hand holds hand,
Eyes meet eyes.
