An ode to my Valentine

a poem by Atul James Singh

I wonder why there’s one day to celebrate love
When everyday reminds of the same love;
Your presence makes it more meaningful
Holding your hand, the world seems more beautiful.
Your smile makes my life more enchanting,
Seems like nightmare, the feeling of departing.
Your voice is so shrill and sharp,
Sounds better than the Venus’ harp.
Your eyes have gentleness as that of a deer,
My image is in them, all bright and clear.
Your touch so sensual; your kisses so deep,
I do treasure them and with love I keep.
I hear clearly the sound of your heart-beats;
It’s my name, what your heart repeats.

You rule over my heart and mind,
And I wonder will you ever be mine.
Coz’ I don’t know who you are;
Coz’ I don’t know where you are;
Friends, if you come across this lady of mine
Pass upon her this message of mine,
“Yond near the trees of pine,
Waits an ardent lover of thine,
Whose love’s as holy as Sacramental Wine,
And it’s you, who rules over his heart and mind,
Scribbling poetry, phrases and rhymes,
He chants hymns in praises of thine;
WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE?
WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE??”
