The Lonely Love

a poem by Atul James Singh

She came in my life, like a dream of night
Bringing with her all the riches and gifts of nature;
A charming look, with eyes wide and bright
And this mortal body of mine, her hands did nurture.

The gentle touch of her lean support
Gave me the feeling of heavenly abode;
The sweet aroma of her fluttering hair
Made me realize, she’s somewhere near.

How badly do I miss
Her soft and tender kiss;
Her thoughts in my mind always do hover
And I feel myself like a fish out of water.

Alas! She vanished like a dream without letting me know
Monotonous is now the colour of my life’s rainbow;
Madly do I look her over the high and low
This ardent hart still waits for his darling doe.
