Someday

a poem by Atul James Singh

Often I dream of a day
When the world would give a different look;
When people on earth would be happy and gay,
And no more would there be any means of crook.
I pray thee Lord, keep me alive till that day,
For I know, it would happen either today or someday.

Someday, when black would join hands with white,
And gradually will vanish the practice of apartheid.

Someday, when “ARMS” would be thrown away by arm,
And there wouldn’t persist feelings of hatred or harm.

Someday, when there would be no more bloodshed,
And people would cease to colour the earth red.

Someday, when terrorism would be brought to an end,
And we would make efforts for humanity to defend.

Someday, when there is no hatred between Hindu and Muslim,
And no longer is worshiped Ram or Allah, rather Him.

Someday, when a Jew is never against a Christian,
And all affairs are sorted out with peace and negotiation.

Someday, when religion is counter parted with science,
And our eyes no longer see our own evading signs.

Someday, when no more are the animals sacrificed,
And they aren’t hunted down more for fur or hide.

Someday, when women regain their lost dignity,
And once again they become a figure of serene divinity.

O Lord , your humble child makes thee a plead
If ever in life, I have done a good deed;
Shower your blessings upon the world today,
And make my dream come true someday.
For I know it would happen one day
Be it today or be it “SOMEDAY.”
