Ode to Flower

a poem by Lakshminarayana K

Your good name’s Bloom, but mine’s Gloom,
Welcome dear bloom to dispel all the gloom
Fair daughter of Flora, fill my heart with delight,
Pious your presence which brings all the might,

When you were nowhere, I was among birds,
When you were a bud, I played with the words,
When you were blooming, I was musing in dreams.
Now you are a bloom reflecting in my streams.

You bloom along the banks of rich lakes,
And bloom in the life where love one lacks,
You exhale fragrance invisible in the breeze,
At times appear on my door yard trees.

Rose of my life along the life’s path bloom,
You’re a noble lotus and a holy basil bloom,
You’re a bloom of all illumination after strife,
And you’re truly the torch-bearer of my life.

Moonlight’s your maid, looks after you at night
You dance on the waves of wind and delight,
And bathe in the shower of moonlight plain
At times over drenched in the frost and remain.

You rise before the gods can awake,
And wake up priest who sleeps on the stake,
In this vale of hypocrisy sans reverence
You’re my abode of bliss and reverence.

Your looks all pretty, smiles all sweet,
Words all witty and dance in steps neat,
Toss on the joys in your bridal dress.
Oh daughter of freshness bring me redress.

You shine like a gem on the stem unbroken
Gleam and gaze through the leaves unspoken
When it drizzles for a while you sprightly flirt
When the gust blows high you kiss the dirt.

On the green laurel you’re but a pearl
In your bright presence my thoughts unfurl
At God’s altar you’re the holy soul, I guess
Come like an arrow and kill my dark distress.

On the leaves of grass you dance in the breeze,
Caterpillars may kiss you to decease,
Butterflies may bloom and booze you nectar free
Soon you bring love’s culmination for me.

You’ve your stem to be seated in pleasure,
I’ve no chair of more patience and pleasure,
Sprinkle your mercy on this fragile skin,
Enliven this rive of hopes and grin.

When I open books, you’re on every page,
When I close my lids, at me you gaze;
You reflect in the soul awaken to divinity,
I await you presence for fulfilled generosity.

At the screams of my dreams, you’re the pain balm,
On the tides of thoughts you sail like a cloud, calm,
In the orbit of achievement you’re my pathfinder,
In this pilgrimage of verse you’re my guide, reminder.

Oh princess of the empire of emerald green,
Am I a vagrant of moods, you mean?
Am I a tramp in the flood of pain sans bliss?
If you say “yes”, I’ll live without peace.

You veil in frost and hail in fragrance,
And whelm in haze and sleep askance,
Welcome my bloom weld this broken heart
My age hazes, whines and unruly does dart.

You only can bridle and lead me to the hospice,
Let’s heave-a-hoy the rhythm of life and spice,
My mind’s mild, moist and molten with sickness,
Partake in my work and dispel all distress.

Now I lounge under the bower of passions
Can’t you flower bringing a shower of fashions?
The idylls of my life importune for your presence
Let my fancy have a jaunt in this province.

If you’re jejune and jittered at my words
Repine and repatriate my thoughts into birds,
Life’s a milky way of mild tremors sour
You only can deaden the epi-centres any more.

You can anchor this ship wrecked in storm
Welcome darling, bringer of sensual form
You’re my thirst and quest for life,
You’re my harvest of all this strife.
