Palaces

a poem by Prabindh

Big places
Donning colorful glasses
Where one could see little men in classes
Doing little things with braces
Through little windows
And a large courtyard
Where lurked a snake or two
To bring down kingdoms hard
In a secret deal or two
Wealth beyond imagination
That brought those from afar
With ships and guns and indignation
Till what was ours
Became what is not
Most built a palace or two
And some lost them too
What use is history
When black and white tells their story
Lying dusty in chains with no acclaim
With little to remember
And little to claim
