Miscarriage

a poem by Mainak Chatterjee

I conceived a poetic thought
After close encounters with life

Like an expectant mother
I was excited, worried as well
Constantly mulling over those delicate thoughts
Growing slowly in my womb of creativity

Gestation period got over
Came that long awaited moment
But a strange numbness engulfed me
And I failed to render life to my imaginations

Lifeless lump of conceived thoughts
Drenched with blood and amniotic fluid
Filled up my eyes…
