Been a long time

a poem by

Ambalika Banerjee

Been a long time since I heard a genuine laughter
Been a long time since I saw a mother loving her daughter
Been a long time since you and I were together

Been a long time since I closed my eyes and opened to see color
Been a long time since I smelt a flower
Been a long time since I danced in the monsoon shower

Been a long time since I saw love in someone’s eyes
Been a long time since I found peace in the blue skies
Been a long time since I’ve prayed without tears in my eyes

Resurrection

a poem by

Ambalika Banerjee

Tears in the rain,
Holding on to my pain.
Misunderstanding surrounding me,
Darkness is all that I can see.

To loneliness I’ve become prone,
I’m lost in a crowd, standing all alone.
Tears in the rain,
Holding on to my pain.

A beam of light I can see,
It’s here to set me free.
To relieve me of the pain in my heart,
A chance to begin again from the start.

Another level I am on,
This race I surely have won.
Tears in the rain,
Letting go of my pain.

Forever seeking

a poem by

Ambalika Banerjee

I seek, seek to know,
for its how I will grow.
I seek, seek to be wise,
to be honest and defy all lies.

I seek, seek that knowledge supreme,
that shall satiate my mind and fulfill my dreams.
I seek, seek to comprehend,
life’s ebbs and flows and to transcend,
o’er the skies and space,
and to be an ace.

To ace with that knowledge that I constantly seek,
to reach a peak, the mountain peak,
knowledge shall lead to my winning streak.

Just Thoughts

a poem by

Ambalika Banerjee

What is it that I see in you?
You are but, quite ordinary.
Tall, dark and handsome, no not really.

Perhaps I’m just in love with the thought of you.
In love? Yes, in love with the thought of you.
I knew you for not very long, but I knew you well.
I knew what you were thinking
And what your mind was about to tell.

Or perhaps it was my strong intuition,
Which works on everyone, so maybe I didn’t know you that well.
Fine.
Thinking for a year I’ve just wasted my time.
Fine!

But you see, I still have a problem,
I’m still in love with the thought of you,
Which I’m unable to handle.
It has murdered the better half of me,
I’m surprised you failed to see.

Or perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised,
For I told you once “You’re so compassionate”,
Maybe I was wrong.
And when you said “No I’m not”,
Maybe you were right.

I’m so unsure of myself and everything that surrounds me,
Trust me I really want to let go and be free
To be free from the thought of being in love with you.
I have to be free,
Before this thought murders the other half of me too.
