Scarlet

a poem by Kaavyashri Rao

What went on in the Makers mind
When he chose to curse half of humankind,
Womanhood’s woe, our monthly fret
Our rage and tear cage soaking scarlet.

Ruinous red turns us bittering blue
Torture blotter all too true
Anxiety before, depression during, afterward manic joy
Blighted biology fires all ammo it can deploy.

This trouble is no fading fad
Pure pain, impossible to pad
No nasty fun, no plan for young ones?
One for all and all for one.

Try this, you will never complain about shaving a beard
That’s all the ink cramps, done, period.
