Belated Realisation

a poem by Sudarshan Madhav Karhale

When the foggy mist in front of your eyes starts to clear off
And the glass floor beneath you begins to crack
You realise that you were on the wrong path
And it is too late to turn back

As the shallow fissures runs deep
Encircling the area on what you stand
You recall how your ego once refused
The only help of a wise hand

The broken shards along with your hideous existence
Descend down into an eternal darkness
You come to your senses and acknowledge
That you yourself were the cause of this whole madness
